Another smashing contest came up recently to design custom artwork for headphones, and we just couldn’t help but put in an entry! The design bears the name and icon of the organiser (of course) and we’ve taken the liberty of doing a 3D 8-bit style artwork that just pops out from that marvelous Astro A30 gaming headset. And the cans come in black, too! Sweet.

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010We love computer games. We’ve loved them ever since we laid our hands on an Atari controller and shot centipedes on a television set back in 1982 . That controller has changed a lot since then, along with games in general. From portable handhelds like the Nintendo DS and the PSP, to the console giants defined by the Wiis, X-Boxes and PS3s, games have evolved and are synonymous with the technological advances of our time. Yet beneath some of the flashy 3D graphics, amazing stereoscopic sound and highly-addictive gameplay, there lies in some games an underlying theme or story that captivates us, and enhances our participation (and love) for them. Halo is one such game.
Whilst we’re not huge fans of first-person shooters (or FPS in gamer lingo), there’s no denying the intriguing storyline that the Halo developers have brought to what is a straight-forward shoot-em-up. A long line of books, graphic novels and even Japanese-produced animation are testament to the strength of the Halo franchise at a narrative level, in essence driven by the popularity of the game’s main protagonist, John-117, more commonly known as Master Chief. Strong, silent and just, the Chief is the embodiment of male machismo, even bearing the name Spartan which pays tribute to the heroic archetype so well established in Homeric lore. The game and story of the Master Chief is unfortunately on indefinite hiatus, but there is no doubt in our mind that he’ll be back.. with a bang. Long live the Chief!
